5 EGYPTIAN PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

1.  AHMED HEGAZI

The West Bromwich Albion defender was one of the shining stars in a rather dull season for the Baggies. With 35 tackles, 53 interceptions, 277 clearances and 34 blocks Hegazi’s experience in the Premier League will help Egypt form a sturdy defence. He’ll be a viable option for your fantasy football team.

2. MOHAMMAD ELNENY

Elneny has donned his countries’ jersey 61 times and scored 5 times. The Arsenal holding midfielder is known for his nifty footwork and his range of passing. For Arsenal, Elneny featured 13 times last season, complete 726 passes with a 94% passing accuracy. For Egypt, however, Elneny is a certain starter and if you’re looking for a midfielder in your fantasy football team, look no further.

3. ESSAM EL-HADARY

El-Hadary has represented Egypt 156 times and has won the African Cup of Nations 4 times. At 45 years, El-Hadary is the oldest player to represent a nation in this year’s World Cup. The shot-stopper will need to keep the Uruguayan strikers at bay and resist the Russian team’s onslaught. He’ll be one Egyptian player to keep a keen eye on.

4. MAHMOUD HASSAN

The midfielder is a product of the Al Ahly youth academy. He’s also represented the Belgian side Anderlecht. Hassan played for the Egyptian senior side at 19 and since then has played for the Nubian Pharaohs 18 times. His partnership with Elneny and Mohammad Salah will prove to be extremely crucial for Egypt’s run in the World Cup.

5. MOHAMMAD SALAH

Egypt have qualified for the World Cup after 28 years and they’ve got one man to thank. Mohammad Salah. The little magician has taken the World by a storm. The Premier League, the Champions League and the African Cup of Nations, he’s been the star performer for Liverpool and Egypt respectively. He’s scored goals, made goals and changed games, but most significantly, he’s got a nation united. Salah will be Egypt’s trump card and if he does well, Egypt go through.
