Colombia vs England: England have a golden chance of making it to the finals if they outclass Colombia in the final Round of 16 fixture. The elimination of Spain, Portugal, Germany and Argentina has worked perfectly in their favour but it will deem effective only if they beat La Tricolor. If England go through they’ll  face either Sweden or Switzerland in the quarter-finals and in the last 4 are likely to encounter the winner of Russia/Croatia. Colombia also have a tidy unit and if they beat the English men, they also will fancy a chance of qualifying for the finals. The stage is nicely set for both teams. The big question though. Who can really strike gold at this crucial juncture? Colombia vs England promises to be a crackerjack. Which side are you rooting for? Fantasy football picks, complete match preview and match insights for this fixture are drafted here.

TEAM NEWS

Colombia’s talisman, James Rodriguez, had to walk-off in the 31st minute against Senegal. Issues over his fitness aren’t cleared yet but Jose Pekerman was confident that the 26-year-old midfielder will be fit in time for England. If James doesn’t recover in time, Luis Muriel will be his likely replacement.

Dele Alli has recovered from his thy injury and is likely to feature in the playing 11.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

England have faced Colombia 5 times and are yet to be defeated. The last time these two teams met was way back in May 2005. England won that game 3-2, courtesy a Michael Owen hattrick.

In the World tournament, the two teams have met only once. England beat Colombia 2-0.

STAT ATTACK

Colombia have scored in each of their last eight World Cup games. The longest current run of any team as of the end of the 2018 group stages. The last time Colombia failed to find the net in the tournament was in June 1998 against England (0-2).

Colombia have played 21 World Cup games so far and never has a game gone goalless. USA(33) and Austria(29) are the only teams to have played more matches without registering a 0-0 scoreline.

Harry Kane has only played 153 World Cup minutes and is the second most prolific scorer for England, behind Gary Lineker.

PREDICITON

Colombia vs England promises to be a thrilling encounter and with both teams heavily loaded in the midfield goals are bound to come. They have equally lethal defences and the team that counter attacks better might go on to win the game. My prediction for this game, England to nick it 2-1.
