The Big Bash League in terms of quality is one of the best T20 leagues in the World. The 8th edition has reached an earnest state where teams will look to draw positive points to qualify for the playoffs. Hobart Hurricanes have had a scintillating start and they look unstoppable. The Sixers, on the other hand, have been lacklustre with their finishing but they have all the quality in the world to stop the Hobart juggernaut.
Both Hobart and Sydney are sitting pretty in the top half of the points table after winning all their matches comfortably. Hobart have won 4 out of 4 matches while Sydney Sixers have won 3 out of 5.
OPENERS NEED TO DELIVER FOR THE SIXERS
Although both the team looks equally balanced on paper, Sydney’s Sixers openers have failed to deliver so far which forced the team management to drop Jack Edwards for their last encounter against Brisbane Heat. Even Joe Denly who was drafted this year by the franchise has had a string of low scores.
Openers Matthew Wade and D’Arcy short have been in tremendous form with the bat for the Hurricanes. They have scored 56.7 % of the total runs scored by the team.
Why are the Hurricanes leading the points table you wonder? Well, there’s your answer.
BOWLING WILL BE THE KEY FOR SIXERS
Sydney Sixers has won three matches in the BBL 2018-19 and two of them have come while defending totals. Spinner Steven O’Keefe, pacer Tom Curran have done well with the ball in hand. They were equally supported by Sean Abbott.
MIDDLE ORDER THE FULCRUM FOR SIXERS
The middle order of the Sydney Sixers has taken the team out of jail several times when the openers have failed to give a solid start. The likes of Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk and Moises Henriques played crucial knocks when the team needed them.
Both Hobart and Sixers are in the top four of the points table as they have managed to make breakthroughs regularly and restrict the opposition to a modest score.
Bloodstone Arena is generally a good batting wicket.
