India in Australia | Stats | India vs Australia 2018/19

India in Australia: The tides have changed ever so drastically. The once undisputed are now in dire straits & the team that struggled in Australian conditions are the best team in the World. India vs Australia – A rivalry that has transcended over the years & taken the quality of test cricket to a whole new level. The two teams have fought some fierce battles in the past and the Aussies have more often than not demolished the Indian side with flamboyant aplomb. However, the Aussie domination has reached an absolute zero. Their star players were shown the door after the infamous sandpaper saga & the newcomers certainly need time to settle in. With their perpetual confidence fractured & a new skipper trying to mend a broken establishment, the Aussies for India vs Australia 4-match test series are assuredly on the back foot.

India is no more a team that would bemoan a loss away from home. The Blues have all the firepower to outwit & outplay the best teams in the World. Team India has always tested the Aussie legion down under, but this time they enter this magnificent continent as firm favourites. India have never won a test series in Australia. They’ve played 44 tests & have managed to win only 5. While there’s always been scepticism about India’s form in Australia, the current Indian line-up hands the Indian crowd with that extra ounce of assurance.

India in Australia 2018/19 promises to be an absolute thriller? The 1st test begins on the 6th of December at Adelaide. Fantasy cricket for all the tests will be up on FanFight. Play & Win Big.

MOST RUNS BY AN INDIAN BATSMAN IN AUSTRALIA(INDIA IN AUSTRALIA)

Sachin Tendulkar tops the chart with 1809 runs in 20 tests. The master batsmen averages 55 against the Aussies in tests. In Australia, the average drops marginally to 53.20. He’s been Australia’s mightiest nemesis & his battles with Shane Warne & Glenn McGrath will be talked about for aeons. Sachin has scored 6 hundreds in Australia but the 114 at Perth is probably one of his very best. A certain Richie Benaud didn’t hesitate to rate this knock. He mentioned that the innings was one of the best he’s ever seen.

He scored an unbeaten 148 before the Perth knock and later went on to register four more classy tons. In the 1999 tour, where the team was broken down to tatters, Sachin stood strong. He was leading team India then. A skilfully crafted 100 at the MCG wasn’t enough to avoid a defeat but Sachin’s class was there for everyone to see.

In the 2003/04 series, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Tendulkar wasn’t among the runs in the first three games. In the 4th test though, he displayed a masterclass of mental toughness, controlled batting and classy strokeplay. At Sydney, Tendulkar scored an unbeaten 241* which almost won them the game.

VVS Laxman was also one batter who got the better of the Aussies. When in trouble the very very special Laxman stepped up numerous times for team India. Laxman bailed out team India out of trouble on plenty of occasions but his 167 off 198 balls at Syndey will be regarded as one of the finest display of batsmanship by an India batter in Australia.

Of the current lot, India’s skipper Virat Kohli has impressive numbers against the Aussies. Kohli smashed 4 hundreds on the last tour. Kohli’s 692 in 4 tests at 86.50 is the 2nd most by an Indian batsman in a series in Australia.

Here’s the list of the top 6 batters:

BATSMAN MATCHES RUNS AVERAGE HIGHEST SCORE
SACHIN TENDULKAR 20 1809 53.20

241*

VVS LAXMAN 15 1136 44.14 178
RAHUL DRAVID 15 1143 43.96 233
VIRAT KOHLI 8 992 62.00 169
VIRENDER SEHWAG 10 948 47.40 195
SUNIL GAVASKAR 11 920 51.11 172

MOST WICKETS BY AN INDIAN BOWLER IN AUSTRALIA(INDIA IN AUSTRALIA)

Bowlers win you test matches & if a team has won only 5 out of 44, the wickets tally might not be the greatest. The Aussie conditions assist the pacers & for a team that always relied on tweakers to pick the majority of its wickets, it’s almost imperative the list will be dominated by spinners. Kapil Dev being the only exception. In 11 games, India’s greatest cricketer picked 51 wickets. His best bowling figures 8/106 – at the Adelaide Oval.

Next on the list – India’s biggest match-winner, Anil Kumble. The leggie is the third highest wicket-taker of all time in tests. 619 wickets in 132 tests at 29.65. Anil Kumble was known more for his accuracy and against sturdy Australian line-ups, it was his pinpoint deliveries that sent batters back to the pavilion. Kumble picked 4 5-fors in Australia and his role in the 2003/04 & the 2007/08 series was extremely crucial for India’s growth outside India.

Bishan Singh Bedi, Erapalli Prasanna & B Chandrasekhar, the golden trio obviously feature on the list. The current Indian squad has the quintet of pacers, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja & Kuldeep Yadav in their ranks. Who do you think will pick the most number of wickets. And, can India finally win a series down under?
