IPL 2018 | MATCH 28 | RR vs SRH | FANFIGHT PREVIEW

RR vs SRH: “Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack” – Sun Tzu. The SunRisers Hyderabad look unbeatable at the moment. How much is a defendable score in the IPL? At least 8 per over many teams would suggest but ask the SRH bowlers about it. They’ll have a cheeky grin on their faces and nonchalantly challenge the batters’ egos. That’s how good they’ve been. SRH are currently 2nd on the league table with 5 wins under their belt. RR vs SRH will be a huge test for the home side but at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Rajasthan have battered teams with fervent deftness. RR have won 3 games out of 6. Can they stop the immovable force in SRH?

In the reverse fixture earlier this month, SRH beat RR by a comfortable 9 wickets. Shikhar Dhawan 78* and Kane Williamson 38* guided home the orange army.

VENUE: SAWAI MANSINGH STADIUM, JAIPUR

PITCH CONDITIONS

The pitch at Jaipur has been a batting paradise. The average score on this ground this season is 160 and chasing has been the viable option on this wicket. Also, the Sawai Mansingh is probably the biggest ground of all the IPL venues. The batters will have to find the right delivery to clear the ropes and have to be extremely versatile at the crease. Win the toss and bowl first.

TEAM NEWS

Rajasthan Royals after a stunning victory against the Mumbai Indians will remain unchanged.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar didn’t play the last two games but his absence didn’t affect the team’s balance. However, if he’s fit he’ll walk straight into the playing eleven. Basil Thampi will have to make way for the Sunrisers ace.

Alex Hales is all set to make his SRH debut against RR. The English opener will add stability to a rather docile looking batting unit. Mohammad Nabi will be left out.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

STYLISH SANJU

Sanju Samson has been on a roll this IPL. The 23-year old is RR’s top run-getter this season with 239 runs in 6 innings. Finesse, class, power and intelligent batting, Samson has displayed every aspect of his game to a nicety. His ability to not get bogged down at one end has been the USP of his run-making. Samson also has the ability to clear the ropes with an effortless ease. Can he take the SRH bowlers to the cleaners? Well, the talent is certainly there. Only the execution needs to be spot on.

Trivia: At 22 years and 151 days, Sanju Samson became the second youngest to score an IPL hundred. The youngest, Manish Pandey, at 19 years and 253 days old.

HARD WORKING MANISH

Manish Pandey was acquired by SRH for a whopping 11 crores in the players’ auction. The stylish right-hander has all the abilities to become Hyderabad’s mainstay. He’s quick between the wickets, which will be a huge factor on this ground. Converting singles to twos & twos to threes on this ground will hold key and Pandey thrives on running between the wickets. Pandey undoubtedly is one of the best fielders in India. He’s taken some blinders this season and his ground fielding saves SRH a dozen runs every game. He’s also got a cool head on his shoulders and if SRH bat second, the onus will be on Manish Pandey to take his team home. He’ll be the player to watch out for, for RR vs SRH.

WHO WILL WIN RR vs SRH

SRH are on an unstoppable run at the moment and their journey to the top of the league table is only justified. RR did beat Mumbai Indians in the last game but they haven’t played a game in 6 days. SRH batting hasn’t fired to their optimum best but with the introduction of Alex Hales, that argument can be put to bed. For the 28th fixture of the IPL, RR vs SRH, SRH are the favourites by a country mile.
