IPL 2018 | MATCH 39 | SRH vs RCB | FANFIGHT PREVIEW

SRH vs RCB: The Sun probably has decided to never set in Hyderabad. This IPL, the orange army have hit new highs and after a clinical performance against Delhi, they’re one step away from confirming a top 4 berth. The introduction of Alex Hales turned out to be an absolute masterstroke as he played a pivotal role in their last win against Delhi. SRH have now won 4 games in a row and are leading the league table with 14 points. The team will undoubtedly be eyeing for a place in the top two. SRH vs RCB will see the two modern greats go impetuously for a vital two points.

RCB’s MISERY IS SRH’s GAIN

RCB have 5 games remaining and by the looks of how the table is shaping up, they’ll have to win all their remaining matches. Virat Kohli expressed utter disappointment after they took a drubbing against CSK. The team has struggled to come good in crunch situations. RCB are currently at number 6 after 9 games with a marginally better run-rate than DD who themselves are precariously placed at number 7.

PITCH CONDITIONS

The pitch with the new ball offers nice bounce and carry to the keepers but it gradually slows down as the game progresses. Prithvi Shaw in the last game was able to hit the ball through the line in the powerplay but later didn’t find the meat of the bat, that often. Spinners can work their magic once the field is distributed. Again, SRH’s supreme bowling and middle-of-the-road batting has made the pitch look much worse than it actually is. Hyderabad did win a thriller in their previous game, but they’d fancy defending the target.

TEAM NEWS

Quinton De Kock missed the last game for RCB and will presumably miss the SRH game as well. Parthiv Patel was the prime contributor for RCB  in their last game.

Should M Ashwin play or Washington Sundar? RCB have been shuffling their team to an unneeded regularity. The youngsters do need chances but need confidence also in equal proportions. Washington Sundar has to be persisted with for the quality he provides with both bat and ball.

SRH have hit the bullseye as far as team composition is concerned. The addition of Alex Hales has added an oomph to the batting line-up and the team seems more willful than ever.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

DEXTEROUS BHUVI

SRH are blessed with a quality bowling attack and the chuckers have delivered almost every time they’ve taken the field. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is the leader of this pack. In the powerplay, Bhuvi has the best economy-rate, 5.2 runs/over. Bhuvi always had the dexterity to trick the batsmen with his swing but over the last two years, he’s added a yard of pace and a whole lot of variety. Watch out for this crafty bowler. Also, he’s a must in your FanFight fantasy team.

‘HALES’TORM

Alex Hales has been the most required addition for SRH. They’ve got the best bowling attack but when it comes to smashing runs, SRH have lacked ability. Moreso, after the departure of David Warner. Hales is here to fill Warner’s void and he took the attack to the opposition in the DD game. He scored a quickfire 45 and if he maintains a cool head on his shoulders, he can probably become SRH’s main man at the top. Hales is a clean striker of the cricket ball and he’ll be the man to watch out for.

UMESH YADAV

He’s pacy, nippy, sharp and gifted. Umesh Yadav has been an absolute gun player for RCB this season. Yadav has picked 13 wickets in 9 games for the Challengers this season, the third best on the list of highest wicket-takers this year. Virat Kohli has brought the best out the brawny pacer. Yadav under different captains has averaged 28.4 while under Kohli’s captaincy he’s averaged 21.15. His strike-rate also has come down to 15.7 for RCB compared to 20 for other franchises.

DID YOU KNOW?

Virat Kohli has scored the most number of runs against SRH. He’s scored 434 runs in 9 innings, average 62.00, strike-rate 146.62

Sandeep Sharma has dismissed the Indian skipper 5 times off 31 balls. Sharma has been his nemesis and if SRH strike early, the two can have their own mini battle on the pitch.

Rashid Khan has bowled the 3rd highest dot balls this season. He’s bowled 87 dots in 36 overs. Umesh Yadav(95) and Jasprit Bumrah(98) lead the list.

SRH have the best economy rate in the last ten overs, 7.41 runs per over, while RCB have conceded 10.24 per over. The worst in the same phase.
