The Indian Premier League moves down south to Hyderabad for the 4th match, SRH vs RR. Three cracking games so far and this is just the start. After being defunct for the last two years the Rajasthan Royals are back into the reckoning and how. At the auctions, the team spent meticulously and acquired some of the finest T20 professionals. Steve Smith has been suspended by Cricket Australia for a year after the incident at Newlands, South Africa. Ajinkya Rahane will lead the side in his absence. The champions of the very first edition of the IPL look formidable to double their titles tally.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be without their talisman, David Warner for the 11th edition. However, in Kane Williamson, they have a world class batsman and an efficient leader. Sunrisers won the IPL in 2016 and made it to the playoffs in the subsequent year. Can they march forward with similar consistency this season? Only time will tell.
VENUE: RAJIV GANDHI INTERNATIONAL STADIUM, HYDERABAD
At home, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have been in scintillating form in the last two years. SRH have won 10 off their last 13 games. A fortress? Can they maintain their successful run?
The last IPL game played at his venue was last year’s finals where Mumbai won the match by 1 run and the tournament for the third time. That was a low scoring cliff-hanger but that was at the end of the season where the turf was used regularly. The pitch when new, has much to offer. The seamers get purchase with the new ball and the track gets slower & much more useful for the spinners as the day progresses.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
We all knew Bhuvaneshwar Kumar had a lot of potential and it was only time that he’d reach his optimum best. Well, that time has come. Kumar is easily one of the best bowlers in world cricket at the moment and when it comes to T20 cricket, he ascends levels. The winner of the purple cap two years running, Bhuvi will be the man to watch out for. Swinging deliveries, toe-crushing yorkers and the ever so innovative knuckleball; Kumar has all the variations in his repertoire.
In 90 IPL games, Kumar has dismissed 111 batsmen at an average of 17.84.
Trivia: Kumar has dismissed Rahane 6 times in the IPL conceding only 69 runs in 75 deliveries.
Rashid Khan topped the list of highest wicket-takers in the Big Bash League with 18 wickets and in the last year’s IPL Khan picked 17 in 14 matches. With Khan and Bhuvi operating at full throttle, it’ll take a massive effort from the opponents to topple these fine bowlers. Khan with his mystic tweakers has bamboozled batsmen for fun. The batsmen have found it hard to pick him off his delivery stride and also off the pitch. Can Rashid Khan conjure a spell yet again?
In 91 games, Khan has picked 135 wickets at 15.14. His economy a miserly 5.8 and his best a jaw-dropping 5/3. Does he make an entry in your FanFight fantasy cricket team?
Ben Stokes became for the second year running, the most expensive IPL bid. Stokes was acquired for a mammoth Rs. 12,50,00,000. The stability Stokes brings to the squad is probably of the highest order and that 9 digit amount might just seem a bargain if he gets going. He can hit the ball over 100 metres, cannon the stumps with deliveries over 140 kmph and pick the ball out of thin air in the outfield. Need I say more? Stokes has to be in your FanFight Fantasy Cricket team.
Stokes was last year’s outstanding performer. The English all-rounder amassed 316 runs with the bat and picked 12 wickets.
RR’s Jofra Archer and SRH’s Khaleel Ahmed will be two youngsters to watch out for.
Archer, a right-arm pacer from Sussex can clock over 150 kmph. His pacy outbursts troubled the best in the Big Bash League and he’s a star for the future.
Archer picked 16 wickets for the Hobart Hurricanes in 12 games, the 4th highest in the league.
SRH’s Khaleel Ahmed brings to the table a new breed of fast Indian pacers. The south-paw can hurl deliveries over 150 kmph and can also bowl those tricky slower deliveries. The 20-year-old left-arm pacer was a part of Delhi Daredevils in the year 2016 and has a decent record in T20s.
Khaleel has picked 17 wickets in 11 games and will a prime contender for the emerging player of the year.
