IPL 2018 | MATCH 46 | CSK vs SRH | FANFIGHT | FANTASY CRICKET PREVIEW

CSK vs SRH: The last game didn’t pan out as planned for the men in yellow as they tasted yet another defeat in the hands of the Rajasthan Royals in the 43rd IPL game. Jos Buttler single-handedly cruised a wrecked RR ship to safety with a brilliant 95* opening the league table wide open. The execution of plans wasn’t up to the mark and when these words come from MS Dhoni, it really shows how badly he wanted to win the game and narrow the gap at the top. CSK vs SRH will be a battle for supremacy as both teams have reached a remarkable balance, as far as team combination is concerned. Who’ll win this battle?

SRH ALL THE WAY

Did someone just say top of the league? Sitting pretty on numero uno with a 4-point cushion are the SunRisers Hyderabad. SRH have been the team to beat this season. The IPL is as unpredictable a league can get. SRH have been mightily dominant. Since their defeat in the reverse fixture against Chennai on the 22nd of April, the Kane Williamson led side have won 6 games in a row. The bowling has been top notch, the fielding unquestionable and the batting has clicked when needed most. The kind of form they’ve hit is too difficult to match, but the primary question here; are they peaking too soon? CSK vs SRH is surely going to be a humdinger. Which side are you rooting for? Let’s look into a few numbers and gauge which side has more chances.

This will be the first game between the two sides at this venue. Chennai have thrived at this venue this year and Hyderabad after taking a pounding in the last game will be bowling to some of the in-form batsmen. Can SRH contain Dhoni’s men at Pune?

VENUE: MAHARASHTRA CRICKET ASSOCIATION STADIUM, PUNE

PITCH CONDITIONS

Chennai Super Kings this IPL have scored 200+ runs on four occasions. Twice at this venue. They’ve played 4 games here and won 3. Their only defeat was against the Mumbai Indians. CSK have a gun batting line-up and on this pitch that assists the batters a hefty total on the board is bound to be registered. Having said that, SRH in their previous outing smashed DD to smithereens. On this batting beauty, both teams will look to score heavily and defend the target. Also, at scorching temperatures, the pitch is bound to slow down. Win the toss and bat first on this wicket.

TEAM NEWS

Sam Billings in the last outing looked completely out of touch. The right-hander is likely to be replaced by Faf Du Plessis. Another change CSK might consider is to get back Lungi Ngidi in for David Willey.

Wriddhiman Saha was replaced by Sreevats Goswami in the last game due to a shoulder injury. Saha hasn’t recovered completely and is likely to miss this fixture as well. SRH are unlikely to tweak with their playing eleven that won the game ever so convincingly against the DD.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

KANE IS DEFINITELY ABLE

Williamson is one of the finest batsmen in world cricket at the moment. An immaculate technique, a calm head and an unquenchable thirst for runs. That’s Kane defined perfectly for you. He’s lit the league on fire this year. Kane is an absolute treat to watch and in the last game against Delhi, he played 3 marvellous cover drives. ‘The high elbow, foot to the line and a straight head’ kind of cover drives. He’s anchored SRHs innings, he’s accelerated when needed. Williamson will be the man CSK will dearly like to see the back of in the early stages of the innings.

MAGNIFICENT MAHENDRA

Cricketing fans across the world were sceptical about what new Dhoni can add to his repertoire. He’s exploded like a missile in this year’s IPL and makes you wonder sometimes, “how good can this guy get”? Dhoni 2.0 is a new look dasher who’s been smashing bowlers for fun. There’s no questioning his game reading ability. He’s growing more wiser every game and if he’s able to read games to this magnitude, we might as well declare him ‘The Oracle’.

DID YOU KNOW?

Shane Watson is only 11 runs away from reaching 3000 IPL runs. Watson has been in tremendous ball-striking form this year. He’s scored 367 runs this season in 11 games.

Karn Sharma has dismissed Shakib Al Hasan twice in 7 balls and hasn’t conceded a run.

SRH have now won 6 games in a row. Their best run in IPL history.

CSK have lost the fewest wickets(54) this season while SRH have picked the second most wickets(73).
