IPL 2018 | MATCH 48 | KXIP vs RCB | FANFIGHT | FANTASY CRICKET PREVIEW

KXIP vs RCB: The Royal Challengers Bangalore wouldn’t count themselves completely out of the IPL yet. They can win their last 3 games and still reach the obligated 14 points. But they need the other teams to perform dismally. RCB looked sharp in their previous victory against Delhi Daredevils who have been eliminated. Again, if Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers score, RCB are in a comfortable place, else, they tend to struggle more often than not. KXIP vs RCB is certainly going to be one heavy scoring game. Kohli, De Villiers, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, all under one roof. Good luck bowlers!

KXIP’s SUDDEN DIP IN FORM

The Kings XI were cruising in the first half of the IPL. They’d won 5 of the first 6 games. Since then, the team seems to have hit an unbreachable barricade. Out of the last 5 games, KXIP have lost 4. The Ashwin-led side are currently on 12 points, level with KKR and RR. KL Rahul has been the lone shining light in a rather haphazard looking unit. Fixtures against MI and CSK won’t make their chances easy either. Is it complacency that has settled in or simply poor form has resulted to their inconsistency? Can KXIP reach the playoffs? The 48th IPL fixture is certain to be a cracker of a game.

PITCH CONDITIONS

With boundary lines marginally over the 55m range, the Holkar Stadium is an absolute disaster as far as the bowlers are concerned. The last game played here between KKR and KXIP yielded 459 runs in 40 overs. Proves two points. One, that the wicket is a belter to bat on and two, the ICC needs to work on the boundary-line limit. The game has become faster, more skilfull and the shots the batsmen are able to execute these days can be deemed outrageous. KXIP, however, on this ground have won only 1 of their 3 games and if they win the toss, they’d like to field first.

TEAM NEWS

Marcus Stoinis was surprisingly dropped for the previous fixture. Aaron Finch was picked and he was sent in at number 5 whilst 246 runs were to be scored. KXIP’s team selection has been rather nonsensical. The false results being the major reason. However, for this game, Axar Patel is likely to be replaced by Yuvraj Singh. Mayank Agarwal’s misery with the bat continued and Barinder Sran is likely to be replaced by Ankit Rajput.

Quinton De Kock is available for selection. Parthiv Patel can still play in the team as a batsman. Moeen Ali will be the foreign player to miss out.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

KL RAHUL vs VIRAT KOHLI

Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. This is a known fact. The RCB skipper in the last 10 years has to be the most improved cricketer by a distance. Although, when it comes to T20 cricket, the margin lessens if player comparison happens. A large portion of the crowd might pick Virat Kohli. De Villiers might feature next on the list, Gayle is a T20 legend. The list might be a tad bit lengthier than the other two formats.

One man though who’s always shown glimpses of the quality he possesses is KL Rahul. I might be speaking a little too soon but Rahul is all class and he’s one for the future. The only complain fans might have against him is his conversion rate, which he’s improved by leaps and bounds this IPL season.

In the last three innings, Rahul has scored 66, 95* and 84*. He’s 26 now and probably in the best form of his life. Rahul has also been a regular in the Indian squad but it’s time he justifies his potential.

IPL 2018

KL RAHUL – Matches: 11, Runs: 537, Average: 59.66, Strike-rate: 162.72, 50’s – 5.

VIRAT KOHLI – Matches: 11, Runs: 466, Average: 51.77, Strike-rate: 139.93, 50’s – 4.

On FanFight, Rahul will cost you 9.1 credits, while Virat Kohli will cost you a full monty. He’s the highest rated player on FanFight with 10 credits. Both have to feature in fantasy teams. Who’ll you choose as your FanFight captain?

Chris Gayle and AB De Villiers are also viable options but the budget here is a major concern. Choose your star players wisely for this fixture.
