IPL 2018 | MATCH 7 | SRH vs MI | FANFIGHT PREVIEW

What happens when the 3-time champions take on what is probably the best bowling attack in the league? Well, a cracker of a game is assured. Mumbai Indians have this uncanny knack of starting slow and then kicking it off as the season progresses. They lost the first game to Bravo’s brilliance and at Hyderabad, they’ll have their work cut out. Hyderabad, on the other hand, produced a master class in their season opener. RR were outplayed in every department as the SRH drew a positive two off that game. So, it’s Kane vs the Hitman. Sound’s like a WrestleMania battle and probably is one battle of significant magnitude. For game 7 of the IPL, it’s SRH vs MI.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The last time these two sides played at Hyderabad, SRH beat MI by 7 wickets. Courtesy, a Siddharth Kaul special. Kaul picked 3/24 and Shikhar Dhawan smashed 62 off 46.

PITCH CONDITIONS

The first game of the 2018 IPL at Hyderabad saw a lot of bounce and carry. Billy Stanlake, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Siddharth Kaul purchased sharp bounce off the wicket and contained the Rajasthan Royals for a paltry 125. Dhawan smashed the leather off the ball through his way to 78 off 57. The pitch here helps the pacers but if the batsmen apply themselves a huge score is easily on the cards. Any score above 180 will be a winning target and against that SRH bowling attack, it’ll seem much more.

TEAM NEWS

For SRH, very little needs to be tweaked. They’re more likely to play the same eleven that won the first game ever so convincingly.

For MI, Hardik Pandya’s injury would be a bit of a concern. If he sit’s out Saurabh Tiwary will be his replacement.

PLAYER BATTLE

BHUVANESHWAR KUMAR vs JASPRIT BUMRAH

There’s very little to choose from if Kumar and Bumrah are being compared. Kumar, a master of swing, a wily fox with his variations and an absolute juggernaut with the old ball.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is 6th on the list of the highest wicket-takers in the IPL. 112 wickets in 91 games and an economy rate of 7.08. He’s also the purple cap winner for the years 2016 and 2017. Over the last 24 months, Kumar has leapt into the list of the elite chuckers. Can he be the match winner for Sunrisers? The probabilities are high.

Bumrah in the death overs is as good as anybody can get. If MI have to defend 10 off the last over and have a big-hitting batter at the other end, Bumrah is the only bowler in the world who can pull of a victory. That’s how good he is.

Bumrah’s economy in the power play is a mere 5.86 and he concedes only 9.77 in the death overs. Now, that’s quality. He’ll be the player to watch out for, for SRH vs MI.

DID YOU KNOW?

Shakib-al-Hasan needs only 4 wickets to reach the 300-wicket mark in T20s. He’ll be the 5th bowler to do so. The top 4 being Dwayne Bravo(413), Lasith Malinga (348), Sunil Narine (319) and Shahid Afridi (300).

Shikhar Dhawan has scored 29 fifties in the IPL without a hundred. His highest being 95*. The only player to score more fifties without reaching the three-figure mark, Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir has scored 36 fifties.
