IPL 2019 News: India’s star batsman Shikhar Dhawan is all set to play for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 2019. Dhawan last played for the Delhi Daredevils in the year 2008. Since then, he’d moved to Mumbai Indians where he played for a couple of years and then moved to Deccan Chargers. Sunrisers hired him in 2013 and after 5 magnificent years for Hyderabad, Dhawan might move back to his home team. The left-handed dasher was not retained by Sunrisers last year and was bought back for INR 5.2 crores. This seems to have not gone well with Shikhar Dhawan and he’s apparently wanting a move up north for the 12th edition. The Daredevils in an exchange for Dhawan will be trading off Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Abhishek Sharma.
IPL 2019 News – Shikhar Dhawan’s record in the League
Dhawan has been an integral part of India’s rise in the shorter formats. His ability to score quickly at the top of the order and his consistency has made him a player to watch out for. For Sunrisers, Dhawan has accumulated 2768 runs in 91 innings – the most by any batsman. His average during this period was a healthy 35.03 and his strike-rate an impressive 125.13. In David Warner’s absence in the IPL 2018 Dhawan was the leading run-getter for Sunrisers. His 497 runs in 16 matches put him at number 10 on the list of highest run-makers. His partnership with Warner is the 3rd most significant(2357) in the IPL. The duo pummelled attacks and won Hyderabad their first ever IPL title in 2016.
How much will this move cost SRH?
Shankar, Nadeem and Sharma together cost Delhi INR 6.95 crores, while Dhawan was bought for INR 5.2 crores in the previous season. Therefore, Sunrisers have to pay DD a total of INR 1.75 crores. Well, that’s a bargain Delhi will accept gleefully.
IPL 2019 News – The other transfers so far
RCB are all in readiness to release South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton De Kock to Mumbai Indians in a money-only trade. De Kock was bought for INR 2.8 crores. Mumbai, on the other hand, have released Mustafizur Rehman and Akila Dhananjaya.
Bangalore’s Mandeep Singh was released in a swap deal for Punjab’s Marcus Stoinis.
