Manchester United vs PSG: In the last two months plenty has changed for the biggest football club in the world. Their manager, Jose Mourinho was sacked and the players experienced a lot of cynicism. Well, times have changed and how. Manchester United have one of their very own, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managing the club on an interim basis. The move has paid off to a nicety. United are unbeaten in the last 11 games and the quality this current lot of players can produce on the football pitch is now extremely transparent. The Round of 16 fixture against Paris Saint Germain is probably Solskjaer’s biggest test and at home, the Reds will certainly fancy their chances.
PSG are cruising to another Ligue 1 title. However, in the Round of 16 clash against Manchester United, the French side will be without the attacking duo of Neymar Jr. & Edinson Cavani. Thomas Munier has also been ruled out of the first leg. Solskjaer will also be wary of the threat the French side can pose & pick his eleven accordingly. Thomas Tuchel hasn’t put a foot wrong since his tenure as PSG’s manager but a trip to Old Trafford will test the German’s tactical prowess.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Out of the 13 Champions League goals Kylian Mbappe has scored, 9 have come away from home. The French forward is probably playing his best football & he’s a definite force to reckon with. Mbappe is also leading the charts in Ligue 1. He’s scored 18 goals after 22 rounds and without Edinson Cavani & Neymar, the mantle of scoring goals for his side completely rests on his young shoulders. He’s got pace, he’s got skills and most definitely a calm head on his shoulders. Mbappe will be the player to watch out for.
From one French rockstar to another. Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is finally doing justice to his talent. The French midfielder was found wanting during Mourinho’s reign but has come to his own since Solskjaer has taken up the managerial job. Pogba is extremely deceptive as far as pace is concerned & his passing range is absolutely magnificent. He’s got the knack of scoring goals and is capable of generating a magical pass out of nothing. With Matic and Herrera playing holding midfielders, Pogba will have the freedom to playing his naturally aggressive style of football. And that’s when he’s at his absolute best.
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed, Pogba has been United’s, main man. He’s been involved in 19 goals(scored 11, assists 8) in the League and come this Champions League night at Old Trafford, the stadium will be buzzing and the crowd rooting for a certain Paul Pogba.
No French team has beaten United away from home in European competitions(Drew 4, Lost 10). The only two teams that have avoided defeats at Old Trafford are Monaco(1-1 in March 1998) & Lille(0-0 in October 2005).
The last time PSG beat an English opponent & advanced through to the Round of 16 was in March 2016 where they beat Chelsea 2-1. They’ve won only one away game out of 10.
PSG have scored the most number of goals in the league stages this season. They’ve scored 17 in 6 games.
Manchester United have scored 4 goals out of 7 after the 85th minute. The winner at Turin was easily the most significant goal.
