RR vs CSK | Match 25 | IPL 2019 | FanFight Fantasy Cricket Previews | Rusty Rajasthan in Dire Need of a Win

RR vs CSK: After 6 games the Chennai Super Kings are topping the charts with 10 points. They take on a struggling Rajasthan who somehow have managed to throw games away from a position of strength. RR played 5 & have registered only a single victory. The men in pink were pummeled by Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game. Chris Lynn & Sunil Narine being their major destroyers. Barring the game versus the Knights, the Royals were frontrunners every single time. Jos Buttler has been the main man for them, with Ajinkya Rahane & Steve Smith chipping in with important innings.

The middle-order though has been a major disappointment. Sanju Samson played a blinder at Hyderabad but missed the last two games due to an injury. Plenty is expected from Ben Stokes but the English all-rounder has had a rather topsy-turvy start to this year’s IPL. Krishnappa Gowtham has been ordinary with the bat & hasn’t done much damage with the ball. Jofra Archer has conceded only 7.21 runs per over but the wickets column has hit a drought. Where do RR draw inspiration from?

KKR looked unbeatable before they face the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. An easy 7-wicket win for the yellow army put them on the number one spot. The spin troika of Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja & Harbhajan Singh haven’t conceded runs whatsoever. Deepak Chahar in slow conditions was impressive against KKR & with him hitting the right lengths, Dwayne Bravo’s absence might not be a major concern. Faf Du Plessis has come into his own & his two outings at Chepauk at the top of the order have provided solidity.

The Sawai Mansingh has been RR’s fortress but with Chennai travelling up North, the Rahane-led franchise will be tested to the limit. CSK are only 3 wins away from confirming a berth in the playoffs. Can Rajasthan stop this stern unit?

When: 11th April 2019, Thursday

Where: The Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Kick-Off Time: 8:00 PM IST

The teams met on the 31st of March this year at Chepauk, where Dhoni’s men beat the Royals by an 8-run margin. MS Dhoni won the player of the match for his blitz with the willow. The former Indian skipper scored 75* off 46 guiding his team to 175/5 on a slow wicket. Rajasthan struggled earlier but Ben Stokes & Jofra Archer helped them crawl back. Dwayne Bravo’s brilliant last over helped CSK draw an important 2 points.

The overall record between the two teams.

Overall At Jaipur
Matches  21 Matches 6
Rajasthan Won  8 Rajasthan Won 4
Chennai Won 13 Chennai Won 2

Rajasthan have a better record at home & with this Chennai squad, they have to be a tad bit cautious.

The teams batting second have won 28 games while the teams defending have won only 15. Clearly, chasing is preferred at this venue. Mishits are more often than not held out at the boundary & this brings the spinners into the picture. The pitch, however, is decent to bat on. The game features the likes of Jos Buttler, MS Dhoni, Shane Watson & Ben Stokes. With them taking centre stage big hits then become a certainty.

Average 1st innings score: 157

Highest score at this venue: 197/5 by RR vs DC

Krishnappa Gowtham might make way for Mahipal Lomror. The rest of the squad is likely to be retained.

For CSK, Harbhajan Singh’s role was that of a floater’s but he’s hit form & is likely to start. CSK will remain unchanged.

Ajinkya Rahane (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith, Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, Prashant Chopra, Krishnappa Gowtham/Mahipal Lomror, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Sudhesan Midhun, Dhawal Kulkarni

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c /wk), Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Scott Kuggeleijn, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir

MS Dhoni is only one win away from becoming the 1st captain to win 100 IPL games.

Ravindra Jadeja is two away from reaching the 100-wickets landmark. He’ll be the 13th bowlers to reach a century of wickets.

Harbhajan Singh’s economy-rate this season – 5.12. Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja & Deepak Chahar have all conceded less than 6.

Jos Buttler is the highest run-getter for Rajasthan this season. He’s scored 176 runs in 5 innings.
