Scotland vs Afghanistan | 2nd ODI | FanFight Fantasy Cricket Preview | Afghanistan’s Dress Rehearsal for the Mega Event

Scotland vs Afghanistan: The first match between Scotland and Afghanistan was washed out due to heavy rain in Edinburg, without a ball being balled. The two teams, however, will be eager to sport their jerseys and step onto the ground to battle it out in the second and the final ODI. Scotland will face Afghanistan at the Grange Club in Edinburg, this Friday.

Afghanistan, who will be playing the upcoming World Cup, will be hoping to get some international experience, just before they enter the coveted league. Under the leadership of young Gulbadin Naib, their newly-appointed captain, they will look to get maximum exposure for all their players.

For the first match, Afghanistan opted Sharafuddin Ashraf to represent their spin bowling department, in the absence of their star players, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi. The deadly spin-trio have been excluded from the side, as they have been playing in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It will be interesting to see if the trio makes an international comeback with both, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) getting ousted from the league,. However, there is no such confirmation on the same.

Scotland will also be equally hungry to make its mark in the international arena and prove the critics wrong. The Kyle Coetzer-led team will be keenly looking to face the Afghani challenge and put up a great fight.

Afghanistan have played the Scots 12 times & have managed to win 7 times. Their highest score against Scotland – 295 & they were bundled out for a mere 63 in 2014 at Abu Dhabi.

Josh Davey picked 6/28 the best bowling figures in an innings for Scotland & Iain Wardlaw finished with figures of 4/22.

Though there is less prediction of rain to occur in the initial phases of the match, it is most likely to occur from mid-afternoon and is expected to rain heavily from 2pm. The temperature will hover around 10 degree Celsius.

Since the weather is overcast, fast bowlers will have an advantage over spinners in this game. The ground has been home to some thrilling matches in the past and if the rain god shows some mercy tomorrow, we might get to see another cracker of a game. The average score here is 295, considering the previous four List-A matches.

Since there is still no confirmation regarding Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, we hope Afghanistan will continue with the same team, like announced in the first ODI.

Probable Playing XI:

Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Najibullah Zadran, Asghar Afghan, Gulbadin Naib (C), Aftab Alam, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Hamid Hasan, Dawlat Zadran

Scotland will be looking to go with their best picks. They will remind themselves about the match last year where they disappointed England in Edinburg, with significant contributions coming in from players like Kyle Coetzer, Richie Berrington, Callum Macleod and Matthew Cross. They will be their key players in this game too.

Probable Playing XI

Matthew Cross (wk), Kyle Coetzer (C), Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, George Munsey, Mark Watt, Craig Wallace, Alasdair Evans, Safyaan Sharif, Michael Leask, Brad Wheal

The prediction is in favour of Afghanistan to win the game.

The two teams met in the ICC World Cup qualifier in 2018. Calum McLeod played one of the finest ODI knocks to see his team through. McLeod scored 157 off 146.

McLeod has 3 scores of over 150. 175 against Canada. 157* against Afghanistan & 154 against Papua New Guinea.

Kyle Coetzer is 31 runs short of becoming the first Scottish batsman to score 2,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Mohammad Nabi is Afghanistan’s premier cricketer. The right-handed allrounder has scored 2565 runs at 29.14 & picked 118 wickets in 111 One-day Internationals.

Venue: The Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh.

Time: 11:00 AM local time (10:00 GMT).

India Telecast: The game doesn’t have any telecast in India.
