Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers | BBL Match 8 | Fantasy Cricket Preview

Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers: The Sydney derby is all set to kick-off at the Sydney Showground Stadium. The Thunder arguably have the best top 4 in the league and Jason Sangha at number 5 is quite a handful. They had to defend 90 against the Melbourne Stars in a rain-interrupted game & did that with flamboyant aplomb. Daniel Sams stepped up with a handy 34 off 21 & 2-0-5-3. The Sixers also started their quest for the title on a winning note. Daniel Hughes(62) & Jordan Silk(67*) led the Sixers to a comfortable 17-run victory. Veteran Steve’O Keefe & Sean Abbott picked 3 scalps each leaving the Scorchers in tatters.

Venue: Sydney Showground Stadium, Sydney

Date: 24th December 2018

Kick-Off: 1:45 PM, IST

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Sydney Sixers lead the head-to-head battle, 9-4, but Sydney Thunder are a sturdier unit this year. The previous fixture between the two sides saw Daniel Hughes hit the winning runs of the final delivery. At the Sydney Showground Stadium the Thunder trail 2-1.

TEAM NEWS

Sydney Thunder have made one change to their 13-man team. Arjun Nair has been replaced by Matt Gilkes. The playing eleven might be the same that took the field in the previous game.

Sydney Sixers might have to rest their skipper for the second game. Moises Henriques didn’t field for Sixers due to a calf injury. His condition will be assessed before the bat-flip.

EXPECTED PLAYING XI

SYDNEY THUNDER

Jos Buttler(wk), Shane Watson (c), Callum Ferguson, Joe Root, Jason Sangha, Daniel Sams, Chris Green, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu, Sam Rainbird, Fawad Ahmed.

SYDNEY SIXERS

Tom Curran, Jake Edwards, Joe Denly, Moises Henriques(c), Daniel Hughes, Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe(wk), Sean Abbott, Steve O’Keefe, Ben Dwarshuis, Lloyd Pope.

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR

Sydney Thunder have an overabundance of stars in their line-up. Jason Sangha smashed an unbeaten 63 off 36 in only his second T20 and the youngster will be given complete liberty to go out to the centre & express himself. Shane Watson has scored all over the world & once he gets his eye in, the fielders will turn into mere spectators. Joe Root is yet to fire & this game might just be the push he’s been looking for. His power hitting graph has gone up North & with him at 3 & Callum Ferguson at 4, the middle overs will always yield runs. The top 5 are the players to watch out for. Watson & Buttler have to be removed before they get too familiar to the conditions

Daniel Hughes scored a match-winning 62 off 44 deliveries against Scorchers. Jordan Silk & Hughes added 124 runs for the 4th wicket & they’re the in-form players for the Sixers. Henriques hasn’t been declared 100% fit yet. The skipper can play the sheet-anchor role & an attacking role with certified aptness. If he doesn’t make it to the squad it’ll be a massive void to fill in. If he plays, he walks straight into the fantasy cricket team. Steve O’Keefe(3/19) had an impressive first game & Sean Abbott(3/29) like always featured in the wickets column. Josh Philippe is an able batsman & he’s got the ability to stun the opposition with his strokeplay. He’ll be a budget buy on FanFight for this fixture.
