West Indies vs India 3rd ODI: After going one-up in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies, India will look to finish things off on a high by sealing the series in the 3rd and final ODI. The match is scheduled to be played on 14th August, at the Queen’s Park Oval stadium, which also hosted the previous match. India have already won the T20 series against the Windies and a series win here will certainly boost the overall spirit of the team, who will then move to play the 2-match test series.
While West Indies will look to spoil India’s party, the men-in-blue will look to give an opportunity to the young lot, who have earned a spot in the team after proven track record in the IPL. India captain Virat Kohli had however made it clear that winning games is the top priority for them, and they would make decision in-accordance with that. Though having said that, it would occur to him to give a chance to the raw talent.
The Windies, however, have their own set of problems to deal with. After T20 series loss and with the looming of an ODI series loss too, the Caribbeans have a lot to introspect. It is quite obvious that batting has been their biggest concern, despite having some of the best hitters of the ball in the line-up. Chris Gayle has failed to fire and give the much-needed start to the team. Even the likes of Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran couldn’t deliver it for the team. Windies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite has already hinted on giving more chances to young players, in his bid to build a strong team for the upcoming T20 world cup.
Another reason for West Indies to win the game is to ensure they don’t fall to the 8th position in the ICC ODI team rankings. Jason Holder’s men will look to give it all in the final match in-order to halt India from winning their 9th consecutive series win against the Windies.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS
Out of the 36 completed ODIs played here, the stadium has been favouring teams batting second, as the teams batting first registered only 14 victories while the team chasing had 21 wins. Windies will be keen to chase, after a dismal performance in the previous ODI. The pitch doesn’t offer much for the batsmen as in the previous 8 matches played here since 2011, the average score here was around 250.
The Windies will look to replace Oshane Thomas with the young Keemo Paul, as Thomas looked has not been in the best of his forms lately. Evin Lewis has found his form and has been consistent for the team after registering his name as the leading run-scorer for Windies in the ongoing series. It is, however, testing times for Shai Hope, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, all of who have failed to perform. Carlos Brathwaite, who has now become their death-bowling specialist, will lead the bowling attack for the Windies, along with Sheldon Cottrell, who has undoubtedly been the best bowler for West Indies ever since World Cup.
Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, Jason Holder (C), Carlos Brathwaite, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach, Sheldon Cottrell
The men-in-blue have been on a high after back-to-back victories and they are keen to deliver on the most important match of the series and seal the victory. Though they march towards lifting the cup, they might make a few changes in the team, by bringing in the speedster Navdeep Saini in-place of seasoned Mohammad Shami. Yuzvendra Chahal might also get a game, who would be replacing Kuldeep Yadav. Captain Kohli, who scored an emphatic century in the previous match, will look to end things with yet another memorable knock. Rohit Sharma will also look to make his presence felt, along with Shikhar Dhawan, who is yet to fire after coming back from an injury.
Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (C), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami/Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav/Yuzvendra Chahal, Khaleel Ahmed
